Hi, my name is Jenny and I am 51 years old, I have been married to Allan for almost 35 years and he is a Cancer Survivor. We have 2 children and also 2 grandchildren. I work as a supervisor in a petrol station in Perth, and we live in a small village outside of the main city.
My network is dedicated to Cancer Sufferers and their families, and we hope that it gives information and support to those who look in on us. We decided to start up the network as cancer has played a major role in our lives. My mother-in-law died at the tender age of 44 to cancer and not long after both her sisters followed.
Then 12 years ago my husband was told that he also had cancer. We as a family were devastated. With 2 teenage children who were full of questions that I did not, nor could not answer, you feel so alone.
Thankfully he is still here with us, and he is well, but within those 12 years have also lost both his grandfather and father again to cancer. The unusual thing is that each type was different for each person. There was Breast Cancer, Pancreatic Cancer, Stomach Cancer and my husband had a Lymphoma.
It is always a worry, but he has regular check ups and has now seen and helped look after 2 grandchildren that he thought he would never see. So live life day to day and make sure you enjoy every minute.
